The F2H flew in 1948 and served as a front line fighter throughout the 1950s. The F2H was prominent in the Korean War as a close air support and escort fighter. The Banshee was later adapted as a night fighter and photo reconnaissance platform. Astronaut Jim Lovell flew the F2H night fighter from 1954 to
