1st half of the 20th century I believe
which makes it extra special
and just thought it was
very late 18th/very early 19th century
with wonderful strong and bold color
Slow Line Strokes, Satisfying (and a bit Raymond Pettibon-esque) Ink on Board Drawing pitbull portrait 1st half of the 20thThis is much better than photos convey there's a real energy and palpability to the inked mark making, and a real sense of immediacy to the whole thing; I actually tried for several minutes to walk away from it, because it was not inexpensive, but I simply could not! I find something quite poetic and metaphorical feeling about the phrase "slow line strokes," too, and the hand that wrote it and drew these lines feels very Ray Pettibon in manner to me.
