seemingly product of having just enough purple velvet scrap to make it around the top edge of the mesh

and reached the height of their popularity in the form of veiled vestal virgins in the mid 19th c

but certainly much of its inspiration comes from traditional Japanese pottery

And, as I've noted before, I find that stark tintypes like this, more than any other sort of photographs, make the subjects feel as if they are just right here in the room, hearts beating. What a gang of four, immediately making me think of Clockwork Orange, and with the young man at top left and lower right especially seeming as if just walked out of a Peter Hujar
